Hi Nirupama, Reached here through the Cryptic Crossword community. Good effort, keep at it! Thought I'll give you some detailed feedback, trust it helps.

The crossword is quite doable for a beginner but not challenging enough for someone who's used to, say, ET. A happy medium between the above comments would be to include some portion of complex clues. That'll sharpen your clue-writing acumen without alienating the audience.

The grid is nicely symmetrical, but notice two consecutive unchecked letters in 18a? A well-designed grid typically keeps every alternate letter checked. The previous grid has upto 5 unchecked letters (2a, 15a), that's a strict no-no! (And why not try a 15x15, the ET standard?)

1a, 11a: By pure clue-writing principles an indirect anagram should be avoided. Fair enough here I think as the fodder is precise and definition straightfoward, but it's worth keeping in mind when writing anagram clues. Also, try keeping whole anagrams to within 20% of the puzzle; there's a bit of an overload here!

6d: 'spite of' isn't used in the solution. Nothing really wrong, but in a better clue the hidden solution will span across all the words of the fodder.

12d: The clue doesn't precisely convey 'replace first letter of loot by B'. A little tweaking could fix that.

Carry on making crosswords, all the best!

Thanks Shuchi!

The feedback does help a lot! I'm still new at this, so sticking to smaller grids for now... Will work on 'em clues; keep checking here for more!
